Mermen Study is part of the visual and narrative world of Innocence ’93, a long-term project exploring youth, intimacy, queer mythology and the fragile boundary between reality and fantasy.
Drawn with soft, pencil-like lines and rendered in grainy black riso, the entwined mermen figures echo the project’s recurring themes of sensuality, vulnerability and dream-like presence.
Originally created during the development of the Innocence ’93 book, this composition evolved into an independent artwork when isolated and trimmed into a balanced A4 format. At this scale, the vertical flow of the twin bodies becomes more intimate and symbolic, enhancing the tension between tenderness and desire.
Printed in black riso ink, each print carries the subtle imperfections, tonal shifts and organic texture characteristic of the technique. Every copy is individually trimmed, signed and numbered.
